Reefton Lookout

4WD track in the West Coast region

Reefton Lookout is a short, easy gravel climb above the old West Coast gold-mining town, with bush-clad hill views from the top.

(1)

A short gravel climb that lifts you above the old gold-mining town of Reefton, with the bush-clad hills spreading out around you. Handy detour if you're heading up to Big River, or just want to stretch the legs while passing through.

The track is bumpy in places. More a spur-of-the-moment stop than a proper adventure.

The payoff is the view from the top, looking back over the town and the surrounding country. If you've got a spare few minutes, the outlook alone makes it worth the climb.
