Purakaunui Beach is a short Catlins beach run in Southland with cliffs behind the sand and access through to 4WD-only coastal campsites.

A short little beach run. Keep an eye out for the ramp to the 4WD-only campsites, handy if you're planning to stay the night by the coast.

Keep an eye out for sea lions resting on the sand. Give them plenty of room and leave them be.
