Through the farm and forestry hills of inland Hawkes Bay, this is a relaxed gravel run away from the seal. Well-kept road with plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting.

The scenery is the real draw. You'll roll past good views and a few little waterfalls, and there look to be several walking tracks if you fancy stretching your legs.

Link Pohokura Road up with Waitara Road for a full loop back to SH5, and you've got a satisfying day. Good option for an easy, scenic gravel cruise through the backcountry.
