4WD track in the Tasman region
Pine Valley in Tasman is an easy 15-minute gravel drive ending at a small river crossing and a spacious DOC campsite.
An easy gravel run that starts off simple before heading further up the valley. Most rate it straightforward, with little bush rash to worry about, and the drive in only takes about 15 minutes.
Near the end there's a small river crossing, and just beyond it you'll reach a spacious DOC campsite that gets plenty of praise. It's a large, open area and a nice spot to pitch up for the night. DOC recommend a 4WD to get past the road end.
The river crossing is the one thing to plan around. Usually no trouble, but it can get high and unsafe after heavy rain, so keep an eye on the weather. If it's too high to cross, you can just park at the road end and walk up to the campsite instead. All up, a relaxed and scenic drive with a good reward at the end.
