Heading out towards the Wairarapa coast, this gravel road follows the Pahaoa River down to where it meets the sea. There are some good views down to the river along the way, and it opens out at a tidy little river mouth at the coast, a rewarding spot to pull over and take it in.

The driving is nothing technical, more of a relaxed cruise on gravel than a workout. Good option if you're after coastal scenery without needing to test the truck.

The route crosses a working farm, so go easy around stock and shut the gates behind you. Best to leave the dog at home for this one.
