A bumpy, slippery climb up a hill in Canterbury, on Banks Peninsula near Le Bons Bay. It's a fun but genuinely challenging route, with private land on both sides, so leave gates as you found them and don't stray off the track. The going is steep and increasingly rutted, deep enough that lower vehicles can belly out and clip diffs and undercarriage, and there's at least one set of rock steps that may call for a winch. Some sections are overgrown, so expect a few scratches. It's probably not too hard in summer when dry, but turns into a serious mission in winter, with very slippery going after rain - mud tyres are recommended. A lift, decent tyres and lockers all help. Those who reach the top are rewarded with a stunning view. Best tackled when dry, and come prepared for a proper climb.
