Out in the rugged hinterland of the eastern Bay of Plenty, Motu Falls Road runs through remote country to the falls themselves. The short walk down to the bridge is well worth jumping out of the car for, with the falls especially good after rain.

From there the route starts as straightforward gravel before conditions gradually drop off into a farm track and then something rougher again. Stretches can carry sharp coarse gravel, so an A/T tyre is a sensible choice. A cool, scenic drive through quiet back country.
