Meads Road branches off from 'The Neck' on the shore of Lake Hawea in Otago, running out to the stunning Kidds Bush Reserve Campsite. It's an easy gravel road suited to most vehicles, winding through beech bush with the lake never far away.

Keep an eye out for a few little offshoots that drop down to the water - the boat ramp being one of the main ones. These short detours are well worth the diversion for lake access and views.

On a clear day it's worth calling in at Kidds Bush for lunch or a swim, with the campsite making a relaxed spot to soak up the scenery. A gentle, scenic run rather than a technical challenge, this is a great pick for a quiet day out by the lake.
