Looping around the top of Lake Rotoma, this narrow gravel road runs through some lovely forest with views out over the water along the way. It's an easy, well-formed route that suits most vehicles taking it steady.

Keep an eye out for the walk down to the lake. It's a short hop to the water and well worth the stop.

If you're after a bit more, side tracks branch off into the forestry, including around the Hamilton Road area (all in Navigator Pro), where a run of tracks carries on for a couple of kilometres. These give you a bit more fun and a quiet camping spot tucked away off the main road, though they get rougher than the gravel and can hold mud after rain. A relaxed, scenic outing that's well liked by those who've driven it.
