A short, easy run down to the shores of Lake Tekapo, out in the Mackenzie Country. Nothing tricky here. It's a simple gravel track, a quick detour off the main road.

The reward is the view. The famous turquoise water stretches out in front of you, a classic high-country backdrop that's hard to beat. Good spot to pull up, stop for a feed, and take it in before carrying on.

Worth it if you're after a scenic break rather than anything technical.
