Out on the Waikato west coast, this is a soft beach run that loops around the Kawhia headland. The coastal views open right up and there are some good swimming spots along the way. A popular, scenic drive and a nice place to spend the day with the family, with a feed in Kawhia township once you're done.

Most find it easy enough as long as you air down and keep your momentum through the soft patches.

Keep a close eye on the tides, because the water comes in high here. You can exit or enter at the south end when conditions line up with the tide and river, but don't count on getting through there.
