Out into the Oteake Conservation Park this one runs, climbing up towards the Homestead Campground in the high country near Falls Dam. It starts as a simple gravel road and gradually turns into more of a farm track, with a nice loop around the back of the dam and good views out to the surrounding hills.

In summer it's an easy drive with little water about, and most vehicles get through without bother. There's one river crossing, a fun ford in dry conditions. The nearby bridge is broken, so the ford is the only way across. There's an odd lumpy section, but it's generally straightforward when dry.

Expect harder going in the wet or in winter, when ruts, potholes and mud take over and the river can run higher than a low car will manage. Worth the trip in regardless, and the Homestead Campground is a rewarding spot to pitch up for the night, especially under snow.
