Haldon Road

4WD track in the Canterbury region

Haldon Road is an easygoing gravel route in the Mackenzie Country, running through the high-country landscape around Twizel. It's an ideal way to spend a day off the seal, linking up with the network of other gravel roads in the area to form longer loops through this open, tussock-covered terrain.

The road heads right down to Lake Kenmore, where you can connect it with other routes nearby. Expect classic Mackenzie scenery along the way - wide braided river country, big skies, and distant mountain views typical of this part of inland Canterbury.

A relaxed gravel drive rather than a technical challenge, it suits anyone wanting to explore the backroads and tie several routes together into a full day's adventure.
