Greville Harbour Road

4WD track in the Tasman region

Greville Harbour Road is a rough gravel descent on D'Urville Island in the outer Marlborough Sounds, leading to the quiet Moawhitu Campsite by the harbour.

Out on D'Urville Island, in the outer Marlborough Sounds, this rough gravel track winds its way down to the coast at Greville Harbour. It's a remote corner of the country, and the drive is part of the appeal.

The descent opens up over the bays as you head towards the water, so on a clear day take your time and soak it up. At the bottom is Moawhitu Campsite, a quiet spot right beside the harbour and a good place to pitch up for the night.

The surface is unsealed and rough in places, so it suits a capable vehicle and an unhurried pace. Being this far out, come well prepared and enjoy the journey down as much as the destination.
