Out in the Pureora Forest, this is a short, easy run out to an old fire watch tower with views across the bush. The track itself is undemanding gravel, so you can get out there without much fuss, and it finishes with a five-minute walk up to the lookout.

From the tower you get a good outlook over the surrounding forest. It's a quiet little highlight and more about the destination than the driving, so don't expect anything technical.

Good option if you're exploring Pureora and want a bit of scenery without working for it. The track edges can get a little overgrown, so expect some brush close in on the narrower stretches and a bit of scratchy blackberry through there.
