4WD track in the Otago region
Falls Dam is an easy Central Otago gravel drive that follows a stream up to a 1935 hydro dam and powerhouse, suited to most vehicles.
Built back in 1935, the dam up here still ticks over, generating a small amount of electricity, and the drive takes you up past the dam wall and its old powerhouse. The historic gear is the main draw, and it's a good spot to pull over and have a look.
The road is simple, well-formed gravel that runs alongside a stream the whole way. Easy going, won't trouble most vehicles, and there's not much chance of bush rash.
