Bright white sand stretches out along this open Far North beach, one of the classic coastal drives up that way. Big sea views the whole length, and for the most part it's easy going, though you'll hit soft spots here and there, especially through summer when the sand dries out.

Tides are the thing to watch. The beach goes impassable at high tide, so plan your run around the low and check the tables before you head out. One report managed to get through about two hours before high tide, but don't bank on that. It's an out-and-back, so once you reach the headland you turn around and come back the way you came.

The entrance crosses private land, so stick to the road and respect the landowners. Access through the private entrance has been contested in the past, with locals signposting no beach access at times, so it's worth sorting out current arrangements before you go. A good scenic drive for those who do their homework.
