This challenging 11 km loop climbs across the spectacular Denniston Plateau, a sub-alpine environment perched above the West Coast town of Westport. The plateau is shaped by its industrial coal-mining past, and the weathered, exposed landscape carries an atmosphere quite unlike anywhere else on the Coast.

The track winds through rugged country with dramatic views taking in both mountain ranges and the coastline below. Conditions are typically rough and the terrain demands care, making this a route best suited to capable 4WD vehicles and confident drivers.

The plateau's wild, windswept character and sweeping panoramas reward the effort. As a loop, it lets you take in the full sweep of the area without retracing your steps.
