A side route up in the Oteake Conservation Park high country, this one heads past Brown Hut before looping back to join the main routes through the area. Good add-on if you've got a longer day exploring the park.

It runs through open tussock country, the kind of wide exposed landscape and big skies that pull 4WDers up to Oteake. Proper high-country feel out here, remote and uncluttered.

Being an alpine route, it's shut over the colder months, closing 30 April and reopening 26 October, so plan your trips for the warmer part of the year. Come set up for remote backcountry travel and weather that can turn on you fast.
