A relaxed gravel run through the Mackenzie Country, linking the highway between Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki. It's an easy way to get off the State Highway and soak up the wide-open high country, with views across to Aoraki/Mount Cook on a clear day.

Plenty of spots along the way to pull over and pitch up for the night under the big Mackenzie skies. Between the turquoise lakes, tussock and mountain backdrop, it's a low-stress drive that still serves up some of the best views around. Braemar Road rates highly with everyone who's driven it.
