Boulders Creek

4WD track in the Bay of Plenty region

Boulders Creek is a short, rough Bay of Plenty 4WD descent into a quiet valley, dropping down to a riverside campsite that needs low-range to reach.

A short run down into a valley to reach Boulders Campsite, sitting beside the creek at the bottom. The surrounding backcountry is quiet and scenic, and the drop down opens up to a nice spot by the water.

The road in and out is rough and needs proper 4WD. Bring a capable vehicle and low-range for both the descent and the climb back out. Take your time on the way down, watch for loose and uneven surfaces, and leave plenty of room to turn around at the bottom.

Good one if you're after a quiet riverside setting away from it all, and a worthwhile detour if you're exploring this corner of the country.
