A simple gravel road that winds along the hilltops at the edge of Aorangi Forest Park, south of Martinborough, with good views down into the valley below. A great spot in summer when the hills have dried out.

Most of it is well-formed shingle that almost any vehicle will handle, though it gets a bit rutted in places. Past the bridge near Haurangi Road and the Waikuku Lodge turnoff the road gets rougher and more 4WD-only, and at the clearing where the route ends on the map there are a couple of harder 4WD features that can catch you out, especially on your own. The track looks like it carries on deeper into the Aorangi Range from there.

The Patuna Chasm walk is out along this road and worth the hike if you can book a spot.
