As a South African I grew up overlanding and touring from a very young age. I have toured South Africa and neighbouring countries, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho extensively. After moving to Wellington I soon realised that there is more exploring to be had, and so the 955 Safari journey started.
The Porsche Cayenne S that I drive is a truly remarkable and very rare vehicle. The car is fitted with Porsche’s advanced off road pack which includes centre and rear diff lock, low range as well as hydraulic detachable sway bars. The 400hp of power combined with the awesome drivetrain makes this a very capable vehicle. I changed out the wheels and tires. I’m running Maxxis RAZR M/T’s and cannot recommend these tires more. I have combined them with the Apex Performance RPV valves that has been a real game changer when deflating.
The barwork and roof rack mounts on the car I custom built with a few more additions in the works. The tent, awning, shower tent and portable power station is all supplied by Te Ata Adventure and Supply.
Future upgrades will include suspension lift, bigger wheels, snorkels ( yes two of them ) and a front bumper with winch plate. The rear bar will also be fitted with a swing out spare wheel carrier and some whips for the fun of it!
