Campsite in the Manawatu-Whanganui region
Woodville Ferry Reserve is a spacious riverside camp, with open grassy space, good swimming holes and basic long-drop toilets.
A big grassy plain sits right on the Manawatu River. There's easy access down to the river and heaps of open space, so groups, dogs and campers can all spread out and find their own patch.
The river has some good swimming holes, and there's a small wetland planted with natives where you might spot a bit of local wildlife. The ground is a touch bumpy in places, but it's easy enough to find a flat spot for a roof tent or camper.
Facilities are basic. The long-drops have several stalls but no sinks, taps or hand-washing dispensers, so bring your own water for drinking and washing. A relaxed, spacious riverside reserve that's well liked by folks passing through the gorge.
