The setting is the real drawcard - a peaceful riverside spot ringed by bush, where you can pitch right next to the water. There are no facilities here, so come fully self-sufficient and prepared to pack everything out. Access is the catch: the entrance off Waipakihi Road is tough going and a 4x4 is essential, with a rough, challenging track in. Because of this, it's a smart idea to travel with mates in more than one vehicle rather than tackling it solo. Those who get there consistently rate it as one of the best spots around.
