Trounson Kauri Park Campground

Campsite in the Northland region

(2)

Set in the Kauri Coast area of Northland, Trounson Kauri Park Campground is a serviced site nestled beside a small but beautiful kauri stand. It's a well-regarded spot and a great 'reset' stop for travellers exploring the region, with plenty of walking tracks nearby to stretch your legs among the trees. Facilities are comfortable for a campground of this style, including hot showers, flush toilets, powered and non-powered tent sites, a sheltered cooking area with electric stove, and tap water (untreated, so boil before use). The site is also wheelchair accessible. Keep in mind the grass area is fenced off from cars, so vehicles can't park on it. This makes it awkward for rooftop tents, particularly in peak season. Otherwise it's a peaceful, welcoming base for enjoying the kauri forest and surrounding bush.
