Tora Settlement sits on the rugged south Wairarapa coast in the Wellington region, a quiet and remote spot well off the beaten track. There are a few camping areas spread along the coast, so it's worth cruising around to find the one that suits you best.

The setting is wild and windswept, and it can get pretty windy at Tora, so plan your setup accordingly. The ground across the camp areas is rough and churned up, which makes pitching tents or swags difficult — it's better suited to RVs, campervans, or rooftop tents. Note that no dogs are allowed at any of the camp areas.

The big drawcard here is the surfcasting; it's a popular spot to drop a line, and the peaceful, low-key atmosphere makes it a favourite for anglers wanting a quiet coastal base. Toilets are available on site.
