Campsite in the Manawatu-Whanganui region
Te Iringa Campsite is a quiet, bush-clad trailhead camp in Kaimanawa Forest Park with basic facilities, campfires and plenty of firewood nearby.
Quiet and bush-clad, this one sits at the start of the Te Iringa Track, a route that gets a bit of use from hunters, trampers and mountain bikers. You're well into the forest here, with plenty of firewood usually about.
Easy site to pull into and set up. Facilities are basic but do the job: non-powered tent sites, non-flush toilets, and a fire pit for campfires when there's no ban on. It's a working backcountry spot rather than a manicured camp.
Being a trailhead, expect a bit of coming and going at odd hours, including through the night when hunters are on the move. Good base for having a poke round the track and the wider Kaimanawa park, but bring everything you need since there's not much here.
