Slab Hut Creek Campsite

Campsite in the West Coast region

Slab Hut Creek Campsite is a sheltered, grassy riverside camp near Reefton on the West Coast, with flush toilets, gold fossicking and good walks nearby.

(4)

A sheltered, grassy riverside flat in Victoria Forest Park, just out from the old gold township of Reefton. There's good cover from the wind, so it's a comfortable place to pitch a tent for the night.

You've got flush toilets, a BBQ, and water from the stream. Plenty to do too. Try your luck fossicking for gold in the creek, a nod to the area's mining days, or get the mountain bike out along the road. Loads of walks nearby as well.

The grassy spot right by the river is the pick, so get in early if you want it. Like a lot of the Coast, the sandflies can be a real menace here, so bring plenty of repellent. Easygoing and consistently popular, hard to beat for a quiet riverside stay.
