Rosie Bay Campsite

Campsite in the Gisborne region

Rosie Bay Campsite is a small lakeside spot on Lake Waikaremoana in Te Urewera, with water's-edge views, basic facilities and room for about six vehicles.

(3)

Right on the shore of Lake Waikaremoana, this small bay sits at the water's edge with views that hold up even in the rain. Rosie Bay is a quiet little spot, room for maybe six vehicles, and easy enough to drive in and out of.

The setting is the drawcard, lake's-edge camping with a disused boat ramp adding to the peaceful feel. Facilities are basic but do the job: non-powered tent sites, non-flush toilets, water from the stream, and fire pits for a campfire when there's no fire ban on.

There's no cellphone reception out here, so come prepared and let someone know your plans. A no-frills base for a few days on one of the best lakes in the country.
