Tucked into a secluded bay on the shore of Lake Waikaremoana in Te Urewera, Gisborne region, Rosie Bay is a small but scenic lakeside campsite with stunning water views that hold up even in the rain. It's a popular spot and a good base for lake activities, with room for around six vehicles and easy access in and out.

The setting is right on the waterfront, with a disused boat ramp adding to the quiet, lake's-edge character. Facilities are basic but welcome: non-powered tent sites, non-flush toilets, water from the stream, and fire pits for campfires when no fire ban is in place.

Note there is no cellphone reception here, so come prepared and let others know your plans. A peaceful, no-frills base for soaking up one of New Zealand's most beautiful lakes.
