Robin Hood Bay Campsite is a free beachside camp near Picton in Marlborough, with flat tent sites, long-drops, and Hector's dolphins offshore.

(2)

Right down by the beach at Robin Hood Bay, this free camp sits just back from the sand within easy reach of Picton. The setting does the heavy lifting: pitch a tent or park up near the water, throw a line in or grab the surf, and keep an eye offshore for Hector's dolphins.

Plenty of arrive here after the ferry into Picton and use it as a first stop. Some roll in late, set up in the dark, and wake to a good sunrise over the bay. Facilities are basic but do the job, with non-flush long-drops and water from a stream.

There's a lot of flat ground for non-powered and tent sites, though a few spots are uneven, so bring chocks to level your rig if you land somewhere lumpy. The access road can carry logging trucks, so take it easy on the way in. A relaxed, scenic beachside spot that's well rated by those who make the trip.
