Tucked right next to the beach at Robin Hood Bay, this is a popular free campsite in the Marlborough region, within easy reach of Picton and the wider Blenheim area. The setting is the main draw: pitch a tent or park up just back from the sand, fish or surf at the nearby beach, and keep an eye out for Hector's dolphins offshore.

Many visitors arrive after a ferry crossing into Picton and find it a handy first stop, with some rolling in late and waking to a good sunrise over the bay. Facilities are basic but useful, with non-flush long-drop toilets and water available from a stream.

There's plenty of flat ground for non-powered and tent sites, though some spots are uneven, so it pays to bring chocks to level your rig if needed. The access road can carry logging trucks, so take care on the way in. A relaxed, scenic beachside spot that's well-rated by those who make the trip.
