Down beside the Pohangina River, this little reserve makes a relaxing place to park up, especially in summer when the water's the main drawcard. It sits just off the Manawatu Scenic Route, handy to Takapari Road and North Range Road if you're poking around the surrounding ranges and back roads.

Head down onto the river itself to find the best of it. The campervan area up top is a bit average by comparison, so it pays to make your way down for the better setting.

Facilities are basic, with toilets on site. Sandflies can be about, so bring some bug spray to make the stay more comfortable.
