Otamure Bay is a DOC campsite tucked into a sheltered beach-front setting near Whananaki on the Northland coast. Large pōhutukawa trees line the shore, offering shade over non-powered tent sites, and the bay's clear water makes it a relaxing base for swimming, snorkelling and exploring the coastline. There's a boat launch for those keen to get out on the water, and you can simply unwind on the beach or wander along the coast. Facilities are basic but well kept, including a cooking shelter, cold-water showers, non-flush toilets, and untreated tap water that should be boiled before use. There's also wheelchair-accessible access. A friendly on-site DOC ranger helps keep things clean and welcoming. It's a consistently well-rated spot that delivers exactly what's advertised: a simple, scenic seaside camp ideal for a laid-back Northland getaway.
