Campsite in the West Coast region
Marble Hill Campsite is a spacious West Coast site in Lewis Pass Scenic Reserve, set among red beech forest with birdlife, hills and alpine views.
Tucked into the Lewis Pass Scenic Reserve on the West Coast, Marble Hill is a spacious campsite set among beautiful red beech forest. The valley delivers alpine scenery, surrounding hills and great views, with plenty of native birdlife active around the tree line - campers who pitch up close to the forest edge tend to enjoy the most company.
There's room for plenty of vehicles and tents, so it rarely feels crowded. Facilities are basic but useful: non-powered tent sites, a BBQ, non-flush toilets, and tap water (untreated, so boil before use). The site is wheelchair accessible with assistance.
There's limited river access nearby, and the well-known Maruia Hot Springs make a good side trip. Be prepared for no cell reception and for the abundant sandflies and mosquitoes that come with the forest setting - bring repellent. A quiet, scenic base for exploring the pass and its beech forest.
