Lake Rotoroa Campsite

Campsite in the Nelson region

Lake Rotoroa Campsite in Nelson Lakes National Park is a roadside stopover with boat ramp, jetty and tent sites, handy for boating but not secluded.

(3)

Set within Nelson Lakes National Park near the southern end of Lake Rotoroa, this campsite is easy to reach by road. It offers non-powered tent sites along with toilets and an untreated tap water supply, so boil before use. A boat ramp and jetty make it a handy base for getting out on the water, and there are short strolls through the surrounding native bush.

Be aware that the camp itself sits close to the road and nearby houses rather than directly on the lakeshore, so it isn't a remote or secluded lakeside spot. Visitors consistently note it's a practical, accessible stopover rather than a scenic one.

If you're after a true wilderness feel, set your expectations accordingly - some campers arrive expecting a quiet lakeside setting and are disappointed. But for convenient camping with a boat launch near the lake and easy access to the wider Nelson Lakes area, it does the job.
