Kiriwhakapapa Campsite

Campsite in the Wellington region

Kiriwhakapapa Campsite is a spacious, creekside tent site in Tararua Forest Park near Masterton, with bush walks nearby and no phone reception.

(4)

Set beside a creek in the eastern foothills of Tararua Forest Park, this is a spacious, peaceful spot with room to spread out. There's an old logging and exotic redwood forest area nearby, along with plenty of walking and hiking tracks to explore straight from camp.

It's a non-powered, tent-based site with flush toilets, a shelter for cooking, and water from the stream. Campfires are allowed except during fire bans, so you can settle in by the fire pit of an evening. The toilets are kept clean and there's heaps of space.

No cellphone reception, so it's a good place to switch off and enjoy the bush. A relaxed, well-regarded base for a family weekend or a day out on the forest trails.
