Holdsworth Campsite

Campsite in the Wellington region

Holdsworth Campsite is a spacious, family-friendly Wellington spot at the entrance to Tararua Forest Park, with flat grass, flush toilets and dogs allowed.

(3)

This campsite sits beneath the rugged Tararua Ranges with plenty of flat grassed ground to spread out on. You can pitch in the open or head up the track from the main access to find a quieter, more tucked-away corner.

Facilities are good for the setting. Clean flush toilets, extra long drops dotted throughout, a shelter for cooking, and sheltered tables. There are non-powered tent sites, fire pits for campfires except during fire bans, and tap water that wants boiling before you drink it. Dogs are welcome, which is a nice bonus.

Beyond the camp there's plenty on. Walks into the ranges, fishing and swimming nearby, and open grassed areas for sports and games. Comfortable, family-friendly spot for getting into the Tararuas.
