Holdsworth Campsite

Campsite in the Wellington region

(3)

Holdsworth Campsite sits at the eastern entrance to Tararua Forest Park, in the Holdsworth area of the Wellington region, tucked beneath the rugged Tararua Ranges. It's a spacious, well-liked spot with plenty of flat grassed ground, so you can pitch in the open or find a quieter, more tucked-away corner up the track from the main access. Facilities are good for the setting: clean flush toilets, additional long drops dotted throughout, a shelter for cooking, and sheltered tables. There are non-powered tent sites, fire pits for campfires (except during fire bans), and tap water that should be boiled before drinking. Dogs are welcome. Beyond the camp there's plenty to do, with walks into the ranges, fishing and swimming nearby, plus open grassed areas for sports and games. It makes a comfortable, family-friendly base for exploring the Tararuas.
