Take the road out towards Totara Station, drive past the Benmore View Campsite and follow the windy road along the lake shore. The campsite itself is quite high - out of the flood zone, there is a boat ramp down below. This place is really popular with the seasonal locals, so many of the prime spots get booked early

Registration to be paid upon arrival, either in the honesty box at the entrance, or to the camp warden. There is a boat ramp for accessing the lake. No open fires are permitted, and dogs must be kept on lead at all times.

The Waitaki Lakes camping season opens from the third Saturday of September until the Monday of Queen's Birthday Weekend.
