Campsite in the Manawatu-Whanganui region
Clements Road End Campsite is a basic, shady spot in Kaimanawa Forest Park near Tūrangi, set in native forest at the start of the Hinemaiaia Track.
Clements Road End sits at the edge of Kaimanawa Forest Park, in the Tūrangi/Taupō area, at the start of the Hinemaiaia Track. The drive in is easy and runs through attractive native forest, with camping spots dotted along the way.
The setting is shady and green, with a few good tent spots beneath the trees. Space is limited though, as the area also doubles as a car park for walkers heading up the track, so there's less room here than at some of the other campgrounds along this route.
Facilities are simple: non-powered tent sites, fire pits (except during fire bans), non-flush toilets, and water from the stream. There's no cell reception, so come prepared. A handy, low-key base for exploring the park or starting the Hinemaiaia walk.
