A basic but well-liked campsite at the edge of Kaimanawa Forest Park, in the Tūrangi/Taupō area. It sits at the start of the Hinemaiaia Track, with an easy drive in through attractive native forest. The setting is shady and green, and there are a few good tent spots, though space is limited because the area also doubles as a car park for walkers heading up the track. Facilities are simple: non-powered tent sites, fire pits (except during fire bans), non-flush toilets, and water from the stream. Note there's no cell reception here, so come prepared. A handy, low-key base for exploring the park or starting the Hinemaiaia walk.
