Set among the bush in the Kauaeranga Valley, Booms Flat is a spacious, popular camp about 6 km north of the visitor centre in Coromandel Forest Park. Handy for the valley's walks and the river scenery, with non-powered tent sites tucked into the trees.

Facilities are basic but do the job, with non-flush toilets and water drawn from the stream. The camp splits into two areas: an upper section that most campers seem to prefer, and a lower part closer to the river with a walking track leading down to the water.

It's a relaxed, dog-friendly spot, though it does fill up and get crowded during busy periods. Easy access and a pleasant valley setting make it a good one for families and anyone after a comfortable bush camp near the Kauaeranga River and the wider track network.
