Campsite in the Wellington region
Battle Hill is a family-friendly campsite in Wellington's Battle Hill Farm Forest Park, with a swimmable river, bushwalks and glow worms near the ferry.
Battle Hill is a popular family-friendly campsite set in the hills of Battle Hill Farm Forest Park, not too far from Wellington and handy to the ferry. It sits within a working farm, surrounded by bush and farmland, with a stream and river where you can swim and where kids can play.
Bushwalks lead off from the campsite, and you may spot glow worms along the track at night. There's plenty of open space along with clean, well-kept amenities. Camping is open 365 days a year. During winter (May-November) there's no need to book, but over summer (December-April) booking is wise as it gets busy, especially on weekends and holidays.
Facilities include flushing toilets and a free electric BBQ at the Dell carpark (please clean it after use). Drinking water should be boiled before use. As this is a working farm, dogs are not permitted.
Gate hours are 6am-6pm April to September and 6am-8pm October to March.
