Godley Glacier Track is one of the few places in New Zealand you can drive up to a glacier lake. This is absolutely a stunning destination and well worth the trouble.

But please be warned. This is a proper grade 5 track that WILL test your driving skills and vehicle capabilities. If you have a standard 4wd double cab, please don't attempt this track. Minimum, you need 2" lift and 33" Mud tyres to do this track. Not because it's muddy, but because the tyres need to have the strongest possible side wall.

Would also be good to have 2 vehicles travelling together. So there is someone to help and spot as you navigate the sharp corners and big rocks.
